Nintendo Wii move aside: Original NES and 670 games selling for half a million!

Filed under: Nintendo Wii — Zelda Wii @ 7:58 pm

***Update: This bid was apparently at $350,000 on January 30th. Bidders are now revoking their bids due to false posting and no communication between them and the seller. Could it be another scam?***
670 NES GamesNintendo Wii puts the user in control over past favorites from the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super NES and Nintendo 64. You can easily access the virtual console area on the Nintendo Wii with an Internet connection. It is great to experience and play games from many years ago. You can literally browse through those old favorites from the comfort of your sofa.

For those gamers who were around to experience the NES era may still have their console and games collecting dust. If you’re not one of those gamers then there are easier methods to play these games (online ROM downloads or Nintendo Wii Virtual Console).

Today, this is a third and NEW option, thanks to eBay! There is a posting on eBay for a complete collection of ALL the original NES games (as seen in picture). What would all of this game-goodness cost? Well, bidders believe it will go up to a cool $500,000!! The current bid is around a quarter of a million dollars!

Would someone actually bid for this? Is it a waste of money or a good investment for the future? Perhaps it will be worth 4 times more than what it is today in 5 years. The seller went out and bought each game individually and is now in turn selling them to cash in!!
The seller lists reasons to own his auction.
Top 8 reasons to win this auction:

1) You get EVERY GAME EVER MADE under License
2) ALL 670 games are in Good-to-Mint Condition !!!NES HARDWARE
3) No Permanent markings on ANY of my games
4) No Stickers on ANY of my games
5) Labels are in Good condition
6) Math Fact: If bought individually, 670 games with $3 per game shipping could cost (670 x $3 = $2,010 in shipping alone) My auction comes in several boxes at $385.00 total to ship ALL of them due to the weight and size of these packages
7) I’ve included a NES System and 12 Accessories of equipment to go with it including ROB the Robot, Power Glove, Power Pad, Etc. Read below !
8) No need to use the words RARE & HARD TO FIND in this auction because …. THEY’RE ALL HERE

Happy 2007 (Nintendo DS or Wii Giveway?)

Filed under: Nintendo Wii, Zelda Wii — Zelda Wii @ 12:00 am

Here at ZeldaWii.com we would like to welcome everyone to 2007 and hope everyone had a fantastic past month with the holidays and all. It has been a week since I’ve written anything, but I would like to take this time to reflect on the past year and what the holidays really mean.

This past year, although quite short for ZeldaWii.com, has been a enjoyable journey! I’ve talk to so many of you about your views on Nintendo and Zelda Twilight Princess. I would like to officially announce that I will be continuing to release great articles and a new podcast coming this weekend.

I thought that I would start the year off right by offering prize giveaways! That’s right, here at ZeldaWii.com I want to give away something for FREE!! I’m still contemplating what the prize will be (Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii or Exclusive Zelda Twilight Princess Strategy GuideTwilight Princess Strategy guide with Gold cover - see picture) but maybe everyone can let me know what they want on the Twilight Princess Forum. Please let me know which one you’d rather get in the poll that has been created. In the coming weeks I will post how to enter the contest and how to win! So be sure to subscribe to the news feed on the right of the site and stay up to date.

Ah yes, the holidays. A time where everyone is highly stressed looking for those last minute gifts, yet sort of tranquil when the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays are in effect! Between the 22nd of December to January 2nd I’ve been off of work and have been basking in the glory of relaxation! What a glorious feeling!! The holidays for me was a time to for family and close friends. I found myself visiting family and friends throughout the holiday season. Even on New Years, I took a different approach from the general “party hard with friends” to enjoy the time with my family. You can really begin to see how important family is and how much your friends care – those who try to get in touch with you and keep a strong relationship.

After New Years struck, I surprised my family (of 16, nieces, nephews, siblings and parents) of a 700+ photo slideshow! I went out a few days prior and picked up a nice 2GB SD card from TigerDirect.ca (which is down the street from me) for $35.99 (CND) – what a sweet deal! So I loaded up pictures from the past 3 years and popped it in my Nintendo Wii. It was super simple starting the slide show and the effects were really cool. I have an example of how it all works. They were quite surprised and enjoyed what I had put together. Between you and I, it wasn’t much work, the Nintendo Wii did it all!

This past Saturday I spent about 10-12 hours in front of the computer educating myself through other blog sites. One in particular which I subscribe to, Darren Rowse’s ProBlogger.net, is a fantastic wealth of information. I actually subscribed earlier on this year and as the emails came in, I would keep filing them in my Outlook. I then realized I had a ton of his newsletters, hence the 10-12 hours of reading!! But it was really great and I recommend any Blogger out there to subscribe to his wealth of information.

We have spent the past week tweaking our forum and have created well organized topics. Originally we had a whole whack of things that didn’t make much sense. So please enjoy and use the poll!

Nintendo Wii Reinventing Web Surfing with Opera

Filed under: Nintendo Wii, Videos — Zelda Wii @ 12:00 am

When you connect the Nintendo Wii you’re able to browse the latest tools and downloads. One of the interesting downloads is the Internet Channel which is currently in beta until it’s official launch later this year. When you’ve connected to WiiConnect24 you’ll be able to quickly download the Internet Channel and have it installed within minutes.

Every time you start your Nintendo Wii you will notice the new channel in your menu - Internet Channel. Browsing the Internet using the Remote is really satisfying as you have control from the comfort of your sofa. This is a great luxury for individuals who want to play games and others who just want to browse the Internet (example: parents and their kids).

The exciting thing about all of this is the fact that Opera works with current web technologies and displays websites quite nicely. There is no need to install third-party plug-ins (like Flash) so surfing becomes easy.

Nintendo Wii to predict weather forecast in 2007

Filed under: Nintendo Wii, Videos — Zelda Wii @ 3:15 am

Note: Forecast demo video available at the end of article

Have you yet to go online with the Nintendo Wii? I suggest you give it a try as it is quite worth the experience! Aside from the surfing the Internet through the Opera Browser and Photo Channel, you get to check the forecast world-wide!

If you’ve already connected to the internet then you will have access to the Forecast channel from the main Wii Menu (once connected online, your Wii will update with the latest content). Simply click the Forecast Channel and you will be connected to the forecast of your choice. The first time you do this you will be asked to enter your default location. For myself, I put Toronto so every time the Forecast Channel is loaded you will see the weather for Toronto. You are able to see the current temperature and wind speed. You can also choose to view tomorrow’s weather or the 5-day forecast! The UV index is also included and an option to get to the Globe to see other locations.
When you are in the Globe mode, you can easily zoom in and out (with + or - on the Remote) of the map to see other regions or get more details on a specific one. You have the ability to zoom out completely until you see the entire Earth in the universe. The pointer acts as a way to spin the Earth or move to other locations.

Unfortunately, you are not able to see the 5-day forecast for each location and only major locations are included in the most countries. Nonetheless, this is a great tool to allow those to quickly view the weather in their local area or anywhere they may be vacationing to!
